One of the reasons I started this site was to take back my name from greg. He always came up first for searches regarding my name, due to a very well formed, and annotated, pictures page he has of me. To reclaim my name and online presence I created this blog and linked all my public online activities to it. With some tweaking of the code, and the things it said I was able to very quickly reclaim my rightful spot at the number one result when you search for "Michal Minecki." However I didn't realize how fickle googl could be until I switched servers.
Due to a bug in the way my CMS handles multiple sites mirzu.com and www.mirzu.com are different sites as far as it's concerned. I got around this by creating separate settings files for both. When I switched servers I only transfered over the www.mirzu.com file. Which in turn caused mirzu.com to resolve to a completely different site.
Anyway my LJ user page linked to mirzu.com site. My page rank dropped like a rock, and google totally lost track of my site. To experiment I changed the link on the LJ page to www.mirzu.com, and low and behold I'm back to number one, in less than 48 hours. What a difference a link makes.
