So said the sign in from of ZJ's. . . How could we argue with such eloquence?
Well in case any of you were wondering: Mammoth in October rocks.
The conditions were awesome. Spring like, but without that sinking. . .the seasons almost over feeling.
There were the mid day crowds, but for the most time we were boarding right onto the lifts.
One of the coolest things was talking to old times who said that in 35 years of riding they can count the number of times they could ride in October on one hand. I'm starting count baby!
Saturday was a lot of pain and gear issues, but still a great deal of fun. I was very happy to find out that the $60 boots from Play It Again Sports rock! I highly recommend at least taking a look at what they have if you are looking for gear. Also ZJ's has very decent helmets for 60 bucks.
Sunday was strait epic. Drove to Mill for first tracks, ending up having an amazing parking spot and time for coffee since we . . um, kinda forgot about the whole time change thing.
This was my first time riding the freshly groomed runs, and let me tell you it's not the last!! So fun. Mid day was spent taking a couple of trips up the gondola and riding from Dave's all the way down to Mill, on almost empty. . . and yet beautifully groomed runs. Lunch at Mill and then kept riding Face lift and various runs down to mill from mid mountain. Rode until the sun set behind the mountain, and got to hear: "you guys want to go up one more time, we're closing up."
Excited yet? I AM!!! Rewardedly excited, and ready to go back up. They are expecting another storm this week!!
God damn it's going to be a great season.
