San Jacinto Hike

Hiked San Jacinto in preparation for Whitney at the end of the month. It was invigorating, to say the least. Started around 8:30 at the tram. Hiking started in earnest at around 9am. Made great time up to the snow line, and then very quickly learned why hiking in snow is hated by so damn much. Wow that was hard! I had some trouble at altitude, but nothing that wasn't manageable. On the Whitney trip we are going to need to take it a little slower, but that shouldn't be a problem. (more and pictures after the break)

The view from the summit was amazing. You could see for days! On the way down lost the trail, and did a little bush whacking, but it was fun. One of our party had some muscle cramps, but he's fine. Other than that it was uneventful.

The real test is going to be
San Gorgonio via the Vivian Trail this weekend, that should be quite a bit worse than Whitney. If things go well this weekend Whitney will be a walk in the park.
